Caramelized Apple with Maple Mascarpone

Caramelized Apple with Maple Mascarpone

It was the middle of the week and I had not planned on making an apple dessert but I was craving one. I had recently caramelized pears in a pan with butter and sugar and I thought that it should work with apples too. I normally like to have some vanilla ice cream with my apple desserts but I did not have any on hand. I did have some mascarpone and I decided to use that with some maple syrup mixed in. It turned out to be a pretty tasty warm apple dessert that was super quick.

Ingredients:
1/2 tablespoon butter
1 apple (peeled, cored, sliced)
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons mascarpone
1 teaspoon maple syrup

Directions:
1. Melt the butter in a pan.
2. Add the apples, sprinkle on the sugar and cinnamon and saute until golden brown.
3. Top the apples with the maple mixed into the mascarpone.

Kevin, great colour on the apples. Sprinkle some walnuts and it would be complete!

Ohh, I have never done a caramelized apple or pear dish but this looks really good, plus I have some marscarpone in the fridge I have been wanting to use up!

Switch the cheese for vanilla yogurt...or not... and I'd call that lunch! I love it when I can justify dessert as breakfast or lunch. Looks great!

mascapone stands up to any fruit! I make it with pears, berries, whatever, and the maple you put in was a great addition!!!

This was a very easy dessert - I did not have mascapone but kreme peynir (I live in Turkey) but had some maple syrup from my last shipment from the US. The sauce was probably too runny but it tasted just fine. I made it while dinner was cooking and heated the apples back up later and they were fine. thanks for another great recipe. Love your blog!
