Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Sandwiches

Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Sandwiches

Ever since I came across the peanut butter, banana and honey combo I have been enjoying it in many different ways. The simplest, perhaps, is as a sandwich. All you really need is a slice of bread (or two) slathered with some stick to the roof of your mouth good peanut butter, piled high with bananas all dripping with sweet, sticky honey. I have used this combo as open faced sandwiches, regular sandwiches and I even tried buttering the bread and grilling it. The grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich was particularly good with the peanut butter melting a bit and dripping all over. The messier the better! I have been eating them for breakfast, lunch, snack or even as a quick light meal.

You have a way of making the simple look extraordinary. Great photo!

You should try building peanut butter and banana French toast! That is completely delicious and completely out of hand, albeit much less portable and lunchboxable than your current experiments.

They look delicious Kevin, bouth of them, but the toast one is calling my name! I'm not the biggest fan of peanut butter in sandwiches but somehow when I think of it with bananas it appeals to me. And of course, honey is allways good stuff!

You are without a doubt the most awesome photographer of your food. You can make a simple sandwich look like something out Bon Appetit! That just looks delicious.

I used to eat those as a kid. They are so comforting! My mom would sometimes grill the bananas, warm the peanut butter, and then pour it over the bananas with a drizzle of honey. It was so good. Total kid food, back then.

You took me straight back to my childhood in country Australia. Mmmm mmmm.

Another thing you can do is grill bananas with the skin so partially on (prevents them from getting to mush) and slices of bread so that they get those lovely black stripes, then eat them on the bread with crunchy peanut butter that melts all over.

My floormates and I love this combo!! It's so easy to make, and the peanut butter fills you up just right. :)

MMM!!! this is real similar to a "sandwich" i've probably made at least once a week since i discovered it-- peanut butter, bananas, and honey on a cinnamon raisin bagel. SO delicious! sometimes i even add extra raisins, depending on how much is in the bagels. and i've found that although it's IMPOSSIBLE to make/eat this cleanly, the LEAST messy way is when i put the honey on the bagel just after toasting it lightly, let it sink in a bit, and then carefully smear the peanut butter over it so that it sort of holds it away from the edges of the bagel... like i said, not COMPLETELY effective, but better than not!

Raea Bach said...

OMG! I thought I INVENTED the peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwich!! I "came up" with it when I was about 10 or 11 and never knew that anyone else ever ate it.

Nathan said...

Sprinkle with cinnamon suger.
Bake openfaced 10 - 15 minutes at 395.
(May need a fork)
