Top 10 Pumpkin Dishes

With pumpkins in season here and Halloween quickly approaching I thought that it would be a perfect time for a pumpkin roundup! I went through all of my pumpkin posts and added a new Pumpkin label them to make them easier to find. As I went through all of the posts I collected my ten favorite ones for your viewing pleasure. Over the last few weeks I have been roasting a lot of pumpkins to make pumpkin puree. Without further adieu here they are:

Pumpkin Pie - My absolute favorite way to enjoy pumpkin has to be the ubiquitous pumpkin pie. In this case I gave the pumpkin pie a gingersnap crust and I garnished it with salted caramel sauce.

Pumpkin Puree - To make a pumpkin pie you of course need some pumpkin puree and its so easy to make your own.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds - Don't you dare throw away all of those pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin that you just pureed. The seeds make for an easy, tasty and healthy snack in the form of toasted pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin Pie Milkshake - I always end up with odd amounts of pumpkin puree leftover and using them to make a pumpkin pie milkshake is a cool and refreshing way to go! These pumpkin pie milkshakes are also a great way to cool off after having the oven on all day roasting pumpkins for puree.

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream - Another cool pumpkin treat would of course be pumpkin ice cream and I always keep my ice cream maker out of storage long enough to make some!

Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake Turtle Bread - I just recently tried this pumpkin bread and it just rocketed its way to the top 10 pumpkin dishes list! How can you go wrong with pumpkin, caramel, cheesecake and chocolate?

Pumpkin Butter - Pumpkin butter has all the flavours of a concentrated pumpkin pie and the texture of butter so you easily spread your way to bliss every morning with pumpkin buttered toast.

Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake - Did I hear cheesecake get mentioned earlier? Pumpkin pie cheesecakes are just out of this world!

Savoury Pumpkin Pie (Kolokithopita) - Pumpkin can definitely be used in savoury dishes and one of my favorites is this savoury Greek style pumpkin and feta phyllo pie.

Pumpkin and Black Bean Soup - Pumpkin soups always hit the spot on cool fall days and this pumpkin and black been soup is a perfect example.

Oh Kevin you had me at Pumpkin....I love all things pumpkin and i cant wait to make my own pumpkin butter.
Question: your pumpkin pie ice cream looks amazing, but the directions call for adding maple syrup, yet there is no syrup on the ingredient list...how much are we supposed to add?
This is a great round up of your recipes Kevin. I am still drooling over the pumpkin pie milkshake.
Mary: Sorry about that, I was doing a bit of experimenting. At one point I had replaced 1/4 cup of the brown sugar with maple syrup. The maple version was also really good.
I really can't believe you can eat pumpkin, a vegetable as a sweet... it puzzles me :P Best way to have pumpkin is in a soup or roasted mmmmmmmmm
That pumpkin butter is calling my name :)
These are great ideas - I've been on a bit of a pumpkin binge lately. Haven't made pumpkin ice cream yet this season but I'm making it soon!
Mmm lots of yummy pumpkin recipes.
Hi Kevin,
Just happened to stumble on to your blog. It was fun to go thru it!
You should try some Indian dishes with pumpkin. It is a very much used vegetable in the east of India especially Calcutta. We use it in mixed veggies, as fritters for appetizers and many more flavorful recipes.
Happy culinary exploits!
