15 Amazing Thanksgiving Appetizers

Thanksgiving Appetizers Collage
While everyone is waiting for the big dinner you cannot let them starve and this is where the snacks and appetizers come in. The appetizers or hors d oeuvres, are always one of my favourite parts of planning Thanksgiving and they are a great way to make your Thanksgiving day stand out. There are just so many different things that you can do with appetizers from a simple platter of meats, cheeses and fruit, to cookies, to dips, to chips, to crostini or even finger sized pies. Although I always enjoy sticking in season with pumpkin and cranberry dishes, I don't let it constrain me too much and I am not afraid to mix it up with combinations of sweet and savoury. The only thing that you need to be careful about really, is that you do not ruin your guests appetite for the big meal!

Pumpkin Dip
Pumpkin Dip - This pumpkin dip reminds me of a lot of a pumpkin pie cheesecake and dipping into it with gingersnap cookies is the perfect way to enjoy it! It's like having dessert for a snack!

Artichoke Bread
Artichoke Bread - Instead of serving a dip with bread for dipping, how about baking the dip on the bread and this tasty artichoke dip is definitely a great way to go!

Pumpkin White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut Cookies

Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip - You really can't go wrong with dips at party and hot cheesy dips like this spinach and artichoke dip are among my favourites.

Parmesan Crusted Baked Zucchini Sticks with Marinara Sauce

Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Chicken Jalapeno Poppers
Jalapeno poppers are classic party food and this Bacon Wrapped Buffalo Chicken Jalapeno Popper take on them is even better than the original.

Cucumber and Feta Rolls
Cucumber and Feta Rolls - These cucumber and feta rolls are another healthy snacking idea that does not lack for anything in the flavour department!

The strudel, the olives and the brie are enticing. The wonderful thing about appetizers is - you're free and clear. So many of the courses for Thanksgiving are set from generations ago - and people would be upset if you rolled out a whole new menu - but with your tasty bites - I am free to play.

Unfortunately we were in Marco Fl. for vacation during thanksgiving. We ate at several places and they were very high dollar and the food was really bad. Had a mixed seafood platter at Capt. Brien's, I have NEVER had crab cakes that were soooo bad. I missed my traditional thanksgiving day feast. Christmas is coming tho . . . .
