Mardi Gras is next Tuesday and even though I will not be in New Orleans to celebrate, I take it as an excuse to whip up some NOLA inspired dishes since I am a huge fan on NOLA cuisine. I was really into New Orleans cuisine before I had even had a chance to go there and after finally getting the chance to visit a few years ago I came back with a long list of new recipe ideas to try recreating at home! Below you will find a list of some of my favourite New Orleans style recipes many of which are staples and pretty authentic (well as authentic as someone that did not grow up in New Orleans can make them) along with a few of my creative outtakes using the flavours of New Orleans cuisine. If you are looking for a way to celebrate Mardi Gras from home this Tuesday you cannot go wrong with one of these recipes!

These recipes all look so good. I couldn't think of what to make for dinner tonight and now I've decided to make Brown Rice Jambalaya! Your Mardis Gras theme inspired me….thanks!
The very first thing I'm going to make from the garden this summer is your fried green tomato blt.
It's calling to me!
xxoo,

Rocky Mountain Woman: Those fried green tomato BLTs are so good! It would be so nice to have a garden to grow your own in; I have to keep an eye out for when they show up at the grocery store which is not very often.
oh my gosh all those meals look so good…I don't cook cajun a lot but i love the flavors…and I love a reason to have a "party" even if it is just for the family. always fun to celebrate…thanks for all the great recipes!
Hi, this recipes looks great! Thanks for sharing.

What fun party food Kevin! We visited New Orleans years ago and fell in love with gumbo and etouffee – a local family hosted our youth baseball team for the World Series little league and made both for our crowd – such a fond memory to this day!
Your recipes are just pure evil genius. I just love them!
They all look so delicious. Hmmm, which one to make for dinner tonight? Thanks for the great recipes!
Delightful recipes, but I would say that 1/4 cup of that tasty remoulade spread over 8 fish tacos is just not enough!
Sonja: I definitely wouldn't mind doubling it to a full tablespoon per tacos! 🙂
I don't normally correct anyone, but it's Mardi (no s) Gras and hubby would know. He's a N'awlins boy!
As always, your recipes look great! I did want to point out one thing though – it's Mardi Gras. Not Mardis. So not trying to be a know-it-all because I HATE when people get all grammar police on my blog. But I figured someone would eventually point it out.
Nancy Long + Lisa: Thanks! I have no idea how I got that into my head…

check out these recipes!!
I am heading to a Mardis Gras party tonight. I know, it's a few days early, but we aren't in New Orleans so we can adapt. The only dish I ever have to bring to the party is the King Cake….we always seem to find the baby in our slice so we get to bring the cake again the next year!
Mouth-watering photos, Kevin. I wouldn't know which one to try first. They all (as always) look and sound fantastic.
Kevin, you have the best pictures and presentation. These all are mouth watering. Your pictures are so beautiful! I can't wait to try some of these recipes! Thank you for keeping up your blog, I have so many of your recipes that we absolutely love!
Such a great selection. I've been looking for different recipes to try and I found some really interesting ones here. Thank you so much!
Another very sumptuous meal to prepare. I like the shrimp sauce.
I’m going to try the biscuits and shrimp gravy that sounds so good
