Cooking adventures in a small, closet sized, kitchen. - I came to realize that my meals were boring and that I had been eating the same few dishes over and over again for years. It was time for a change! I now spend my free time searching for, creating and trying tasty new recipes in my closet sized kitchen.

Yes, you can make this in a crockpot! Optionally implement steps 1-4, and then you have some options:
1. If you want the meal soon-ish: put the barley and lentils and cook on HIGH until they are tender, about 30-50 minutes. (The cook time will depend on how quickly your crockpot heats up to high temperature.)
2. If you want it later (when you come home from work): cook on LOW until you get back from work, add the barley and lentils and cook on HIGH until they are tender, about 30-50 minutes.
When the barley and lentils are done, turn off the heat, mix in the remaining ingredients and enjoy!
Enjoy!

I like brown or green lentils that cook in the same time as the pearled barley. Enjoy!

This sounds like a great combination for a quick weeknight meal. I like that the blue cheese can be swapped for parmesan or asiago, since that makes the recipe easy to adapt to different tastes. Adding peas also gives the creamy sauce some freshness and texture.

The recipe specifies pearled barley, which makes the cooking instructions easier to follow, but I’m unsure which lentils to use for the optional addition. Do you recommend a particular type that will finish alongside the barley in the 20–30 minute simmer? A quick note on the intended lentil texture would help someone choose what to buy.

I was just wondering. All your soups that you make. I know they’re on the stove top. But can I do them in the crockpot? I have a propane stove. So a crockpot is more economical for me.
