I grew up in Alaska in the sixties & seventies – my mom always prepared strawberries with either sweetened condensed milk or evaporated milk with sugar added as a special treat. Canned products were simply easier & cheaper to get; fresh milk & cream were neither so even though she grew up on a farm, she adapted. I’m not sure I’ve ever had Strawberries & actual Cream but I do love Strawberries & Sweetened Condensed Milk. Both versions probably have similar amounts of sugar but the latter is much lower in fat.
