I grew up thinking that all mashed potatoes had cider vinegar in them. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that only my mom made them that way! I used vinegar in them for years after I moved out on my own.

Why all the trash on these mashed potatoes , I see in about six spots what looks like bits of paper on the potatoes ?

In reply to Sheree. Miso is a fermented bean paste common in Asian cultures such as Japan where one of it's primary uses is in Miso Soup. You can usually find it in the Asian section of your grocery store (or the sushi section) or at an Asian grocery store.
