Yakisoba (????) is a Japanese stir fried noodle dish. Despite the fact that the name includes “soba” it is commonly made with ramen style noodles rather than with soba noodles. I have made yakisoba with soba noodles and they also work well. The noodles are stir fried in a yakisoba sauce with meat and vegetables. Yakisoba sauce, like tonkatsu sauce, is a Japanese sauce that is similar to Worcestershire sauce and HP sauce. I was able to find some yakisoba sauce at a nearby Japanese grocery store. The meat can be pork, beef, chicken, etc. This time I though I would try shrimp. The vegetables are commonly cabbage, onions, carrots, etc. One of the reasons that I like this dish is that it is great for using up those extra vegetables in my fridge. I also like this dish because it is quick and it tastes good. This dish reminds me of eating yakisoba in Japan when I was there on vacation.

Ahhh Kevin-San, another beautiful Asian dish. It’s great how you step out of your box.
Yum, Kevin! This looks SO good.
WOW- Kevin, that looks AMAZING, is it cool if my hubby and I bring the weenie dog and come for dinner??
I already see 2 soba dishes in PPN this week. Yours, and mine!
So yummy!
Yum x 3! Great work.
yum! i love how you include so many ethnic dishes in your blog 🙂
Looks delicious! What’s not to love about noodles and big, fat shrimp?
That looks DELICIOUS! Bravo.
Those shrimp look really big. Our shrimp aren’t very good, here. Obviously, since we are located in the middle of the United States.
I want to make a dish like this, using soba, but I want to add some tropical flair to it. Any suggestions?
Kevin, I am sooo bookmarking this. I have to run to my asian market and see if they have that sauce.
Oh, now I’m really hungry…
Mmmm. Yakisoba is one of my favorites… Maybe that’ll be the next Asian dish I try to make at home.
Sound easy and quick for a weeknight. I’ll have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
How intensely pleasurable! This looks awesome! The shrimp looks great.
Sounds wonderful Thanks so much for sharing with Presto Pasta Nights. Hopefully the local Asian Grocery stores (there are only two) will have some of that sauce.
Looks good! I’ll have to try this recipe.
Wow Kevin, who’s eating all this good food with you?????
You actually believe that soba isn't normally used, and a ramen-type noodle is used in its place?
If it makes you happy, then continue believing this, or go and get the proper noodle, because it makes all the difference in the world.
this looks amazing!!! kevin please make a yakisoba sauce recipe in the future…i have tried and failed!! i don't live around anywhere that would sell that sauce…the only option i have is the flavor packets from the boxes. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A RECIPE!! i believe in you!!!! LOL
Jenny: I have not tried making my own yakisoba sauce. I will have to look into it. If you are in the US, online stores like Amazon carry and ship it.
Of course you have a yakisoba recipe! Why do I bother with pinterest – I should come straight here. Hopefully I can find some yakisoba sauce at the stores around here!
Nicole: You should be able to find the yakioba sauce at a local Asian grocery store or you can order it online from a few shops.
This is awesome! Thanks Kevin, I gotta try this 🙂
