Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Mango and Cardamom Jam

[heart_this] · Apr 18, 2009 · 41 Comments

Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Mango and Cardamom Jam

I have been enjoying the sweet and savoury combination of grilled cheese sandwiches with jam for a while. With my newly made mango and cardamom jam in hand the first thing that came to mind, after the required display of the jam on toast of course, was a grilled cheese sandwich with mango and cardamom jam. There is just something magical about that melted gooey, savoury, cheese contrasted with a sweet jam all wrapped up in golden brown buttery grilled bread…mmm… The grilled cheese sandwich with mango and cardamom jam met and even exceeded all of my expectations with the addition of the aromatic cardamom lifting it above other grilled cheese and jam sandwiches from the past.

Kevin, what a good idea to have grilled cheese sandwich with the mango and cardamom jam. I would have just spread them on plain bread. It sure make your breakfast more appetising. 🙂

    Cheers,
    Elin

For me this combination is a bit strange because we don’t usually combine jam with cheese in a sandwich, only in desserts. But it sounds great.

Jeeee. .. You must really like mangoes! but I get it: we had a bumper crop of kumquats this year and almost every other recipe I make now has kumquat in it.

I love your gourmet choice for this grilled sandwich.

Wow- you Americans should really brand out more. Perhaps try something that doesn’t include bread and cheese. Vegetables perhaps? Grilled cheese mango jam isn’t a recipe. Its a hangover cure.
