Peppermint Candy Cane Popcorn

[heart_this] · Dec 23, 2012 · 8 Comments

Peppermint Candy Cane Popcorn

Festive holiday peppermint candy cane popcorn that makes a perfect snack or gift!

I have really been into homemade popcorn lately, making it both for snacking and for gift giving and up next is a festive peppermint candy cane popcorn that is perfect for the holiday season! Specialty popcorns like caramel popcorn cost and arm and a leg compared to what you get and it turns out that they can be supper easy to make them at home. This peppermint candy cane popcorn is as easy to make as microwaving some popcorn kernels in a paper bag, mixing them with some melted white chocolate and crushed peppermint candy canes before letting it set and enjoying it. The creamy white chocolate goes surprisingly well on popcorn and the peppermint candy cane adds a nice contrast in texture along with the pepperminty goodness. If you have the time to get one more homemade gift in for the holidays this is a great last minute option!
Happy holidays!

I've made white chocolate popcorn for years. It is so easy not to mention extremely addicting. We don't even wait for the chocolate to set….Yummy!!!

We're on the same wavelength today – I put up a peppermint ice cream cake roll at http://apassionforchocolate.wordpress.com. I also nominated Closet Cooking for a Blog of the Year star. Happy new year, Heather

Hi there. I tried this today, but I have a question: How big is the candy cane you used? They come in a variety of sizes–from jumbo to petite–so a weight or volume measurement would be helpful. Six inches (or about 1/2 ounce) seems to be the size of a standard cane, but with only 1/2 the cane, we were really searching for the mint. Can you be more specific? Thanks.

Farmstand Foodie: Yes, that should have been a volume, about 1/3 cup. I have updated the recipe. Thanks!
