Rhubarb Soda

[heart_this] · Jun 15, 2011 · 18 Comments

Rhubarb Soda

Making your own gourmet soda/pop at home is super easy and this rhubarb soda just screams spring with its amazing pink colour along with its sweet and tart rhubarb flavour.

Have you ever wanted to try making your own flavours of pop or soda? Armed with a fruity simple syrup and some club soda you can mix one up in no time! That was exactly my plan for the rhubarb syrup and I was pulling it out of the fridge again just as soon as it had fully chilled. I have to say, as I sit here enjoying a glass of cool and refreshing rhubarb soda, that the rhubarb flavour along the sweetness and tartness, makes an amazing soda and what a wonderful colour! Now I am thinking that a rhubarb mojito with the addition of lime and rum might be up next.

My roommate and I drink our way through club soda like it's going out of style…the addition of rhubarb syrup would really spruce it up! Amazing!

    Hi Kevin,
Long time follower here. Just wanted to tell you I too made the rhubarb syrup when a friend told me about it. Sorry I musta missed on your blog.

When I made the syrup I found out I had none of the fizzy waters to add to it. I turned the tap on and got the chilly water from our well and thought nothing could top the taste and refreshment of it.

When I did finally get around to buying some fizzy stuff…. turns out I was right. It doesn't need the fizzy to make the rhubarb syrup into a refreshing and tasty drink.

I make a rhubarb iced tea that is amazing, but an Italian inspired soda sounds perfect.

I think it'd work really well in a cosmopolitan! Kind of a girlie drink, I know hehe but probably worth trying out 🙂

Gorgeous. I've been wanting to buy the ISI product to make my own soda so I love the idea of adapting that recipe for this.

I have still never had rhubarb in any form, not even in strawberry-rhubarb pie which seems like a common summertime dessert. This drink looks like a good way for me to introduce myself to it. I sure have been craving lots of fruity drinks and cold desserts like popsicles lately. Just can't get enough.
