Steak and Peppers in Black Bean Sauce

Steak and Peppers in Black Bean Sauce

When I eat out at Chinese restaurants one of my favorite dishes to order is steak and peppers with black bean sauce. It is a nice simple and yet tasty dish that is fairly healthy. I have made this at home before using a jarred black bean sauce but now that I had found the fermented black beans, I wanted to try making it with them. The steak and peppers came together pretty easily and quickly. I made sure to not overcook the peppers as I like them to still be crisp and fresh. The steak and peppers in fermented black bean sauce was pretty tasty! It goes well on rice which soaks up any of the excess sauce. This dish is pretty flexible and you could easily change the beef to chicken or prawns etc. and you could change the peppers with broccoli or some other vegetable.

Yum! This reminds me of a dish my Mom used to make me. I don't think she used fermented black beans though. I will have to try them.

Every time I see a recipe with beef, I automatically translate into venison...this looks like something that would work well with it!

yum. I love this. Especially in a chinese resturant when they served it on a sizzling hot plate. I like the simplicity of it yet it tastes so good with a bowl of rice.

I just picked up some preserved black beans this weekend and used a tiny bit sauteed with yu choi. I liked the flavor, but it was a little strong. I didn't know you should soak them! I think that will help a lot next time I use them. Thanks!

I love Chinese style food. This looks very, very good. I don't think I've had a black bean sauce before. Just black beans as a side dish.

this is one of my pop's favourite dish cause he's a meat-face. lol. but this dish is commonly prepared with bittergourd instead so the intense 'heat' of the beef and intense flavour of the black beans are cleansed by the 'coolness' gourd. also, the beef helps to boost iron and protein in your system whilst the gourd maintains overall wellbeing and clears the toxins in the system.

kudos to the 'balance' of chinese cuisine.

now that is my dad's saying :D

I miss beef when I see dishes like this one. There is a similar dish in Mexico that I love. I will try to make it with chicken and see how it turns out.
