Even though I have been enjoying the banana upside-down cake all week, I was craving more of that caramelized banana-y goodness. The chocolate and banana flavour combo in the cake reminded me of an oldie but a favorite, the nutella and banana sandwich and with that thought, I had to try the caramelized banana version! This little treat is quick and easy to whip up and it is so addictively good! Caramelizing the bananas makes them sweeter and more intense and the fact that they are still warm means that they melt right into the nutella making it even better.
Nutella and Caramelized Banana Sandwich
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 banana (peeled and sliced)
- 1 or 2 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoons nutella (chocolate hazelnut spread)
- Melt the butter and sugar in a pan.
- Add the bananas and cook until golden brown and caramelized on both sides, about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Assemble sandwich.

Looks so good. I think I must be the only person on the planet who has never tasted Nutella! Will have to buy some.
I don't think I've ever had caramelized bananas…sounds great with the nutella!

I am a big nutella fan and this is similar to my favourite quickie breakfast sandwich: two slices of thick whole wheat toast, one spread with nutella, the other with crunchy peanut butter, slices of banana in between. Perfect dose of fibre and energy!
WOW…This is so over the top wonderful looking. My husband and I would gobble this up in a flash.
You changed the header I can see – and the whole front page design – refreshing 🙂
This sandwich definitely satisfy any man s sugar cravings 🙂
Nutella is one of my weaknesses and I've tried fresh bananas with it. I have to try this with the caramelized bananas….

Such a good idea to caramelize the banana! I've eaten dozens of banana/Nutella sandwiches/crepes in my day but never thought to do anything fancy with the banana. Definitely on my list of things to try!

Yum Yum and Yum! I've said it before but have to say it again, Nutella is amazing! We used to put it on toast as a kid all the time. Would make grilled nutella and jelly sandwiches. Insanely good and so bad!!! LOL

I made this…it was delicious! You come up with the best taste combinations!
this is absolutely glorious! i love it, definitely going to be making it again, and soon!
I just made this and it was incredible! I'm out of bread so I used a croissant, which probably made it even better. Anyway, thank you for the recipe. Great way to get rid of a banana going brown. I plan to make this dessert for many of my friends and family.
super easyyyyy….must try this recipe….banana and nutella are the most delicious duo…
That looks so disgusting.
Try also with strawberries delicious!! I will have to try this
I wish people would not comment unless they have actually made the recipe. Those of us wondering how your recipes taste end up having to scroll through all the “that looks delicious” and “I’ll have to try it” comments. It’s about how it tastes people! Not the pictures…

Just made these for the first time and they were pretty delicious! Still have to perfect my banana caramelizing skill. I think I had the heat up a little high and I’ll try covering the bananas in a pan to see what that does. It’s a simple recipe to make with nothing else needed. I already have a bunch of Nutella at home so this was a great use for it! I’d definitely make again!
