Nutella and Caramelized Banana Sandwich

[heart_this] · May 15, 2010 · 46 Comments

Nutella and Caramelized Banana Sandwich

Even though I have been enjoying the banana upside-down cake all week, I was craving more of that caramelized banana-y goodness. The chocolate and banana flavour combo in the cake reminded me of an oldie but a favorite, the nutella and banana sandwich and with that thought, I had to try the caramelized banana version! This little treat is quick and easy to whip up and it is so addictively good! Caramelizing the bananas makes them sweeter and more intense and the fact that they are still warm means that they melt right into the nutella making it even better.

I am a big nutella fan and this is similar to my favourite quickie breakfast sandwich: two slices of thick whole wheat toast, one spread with nutella, the other with crunchy peanut butter, slices of banana in between. Perfect dose of fibre and energy!

Such a good idea to caramelize the banana! I've eaten dozens of banana/Nutella sandwiches/crepes in my day but never thought to do anything fancy with the banana. Definitely on my list of things to try!

I just made this and it was incredible! I'm out of bread so I used a croissant, which probably made it even better. Anyway, thank you for the recipe. Great way to get rid of a banana going brown. I plan to make this dessert for many of my friends and family.

Just made these for the first time and they were pretty delicious! Still have to perfect my banana caramelizing skill. I think I had the heat up a little high and I’ll try covering the bananas in a pan to see what that does. It’s a simple recipe to make with nothing else needed. I already have a bunch of Nutella at home so this was a great use for it! I’d definitely make again!
