Jalapeno Ranch Dressing

Ranch dressing is one of the most popular dressings around and I had been thinking about making a spicy jalapeno ranch dressing for a while. Your basic ranch dressing is made with buttermilk and mayonnaise and it is seasoned with spices such as salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard along with plenty of herbs including parsley, chives and dill. All of this makes for a cool and creamy dressing but this time I was thinking more along the lines of a Texmex style ranch dressing with some heat from jalapeno peppers in addition to some fresh cilantro and a burst of lime juice. Making a ranch dressing could not be easier, you simply have to puree everything in a food processor or blender and it is ready to go. When it is this easy to make your own amazingly tasty dressings at home, why wouldn't you!

This looks great! Super fun way to make ranch more exciting!
In my mind, I'm dipping that awesome jalapeƱo pizza into this dressing as I type! YUM!
I already added buttermilk to my grocery list.
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks!!
We have to try this soon. Our daughter loves anything and everything with jalapeno.
This will be great drizzled over Roasted Tomato Soup -- Thank you!
Also Corn Chowder...
You need to add a packet of hidden valley ranch dressing to this. I live in Austin Texas and this is similar to the dips they have in tex mex restraunts.
Just did it! Love it!
I wouldn't add a thing, this recipe is perfect just the way it is.
This is quite runny. I would have used 1/8 cup milk and 1/2 cup mayo. Still, tastes delicious.
astrid: You could also replace some of the buttermilk with sour cream to make it thicker.
I'm picky. Kevin would it be okay for me to add greek yogurt and no mayo, no buttermilk? Or would it ruin the flavor profile and consistency?
Annie Baiz: It is definitely going to change the flavour and consistency but it should not ruin things. I do think that you will need something more liquid such as regular milk or regular yogurt to thin the thick Greek yogurt out a bit.
