Bang Bang Shrimp

Bang Bang Shrimp
Today I have a tasty treat for you, crispy fried bang bang shrimp! Bang bang shrimp is a shrimp dish that can be found in Chinese restaurants and it consists of shrimp, typically fried in a crispy batter, served in a spicy creamy mayonnaise and chili sauce. Instead of the more common cornstarch based batter I like to go with panko breadcrumbs for the crispy coating as they provide more nooks and crannies for the sauce to get in and cling to! I like to use the combo of mayo and sweet chili sauce to add a touch of sweetness to the creamy heat of the sauce but feel free to go with something like sriracha chili sauce or even Franks Red Hot sauce! This bang bang shrimp is the perfect appetizer or finger food snack with dipping and it also makes for a nice light meal when served on rice along with a vegetable tossed in the sauce!

What are the sauce ingredients? You only give mayo and sweetened condensed milk in list, and mention honey and lemon with no amounts in instructions.

Love anything you cook up but what would be the cooking time & temp be if you baked the shrimp. Thanks so much.

What kind of sweet chili sauce? Is this a Chinese ingredient, or is it the chili sauce that you use that comes in a bottle in the condiment section ?

JoyceK: The sweet chili sauce that I am familiar with is a Thai ingredient, though there may be a Chinese equivalent. You can also make your own by clicking through the link in the recipe! Enjoy!

Hey Kevin Lynch! Thank you so much! That info is very helpful; now I know what you are referencing, and I also did not know that the red in a recipe was a link. I LOVE having recipes for ingredients like this, although I will def be looking to buy it for convenience! Love this website! Have you thought of writing a hardcopy book with all this good, luscious stuff in it? YOU are the BEST!! Can't say enough good things about your site and recipes!
