The local strawberries are here and so far I have been enjoying them by the bowlful whether with a bit of good balsamic vinegar or on vanilla yogurt or just themselves. As I was contemplating what I wanted to do with strawberries this year I noticed that I kept jumping to ideas for sweet dishes and when I realized that I almost immediately took it as a challenge to use strawberries in a savoury dish. The challenge did not last too long however as I quickly thought that fruit often works well in salsas and I liked the sound of a savoury strawberry salsa. With the strawberries being so perfectly ripe, I of course wanted a fresh salsa and I kept things nice and simple. I figured that cool and creamy avocado would be a great pair with the strawberries and I finished things off with some staple salsa ingredients including jalapeno pepper, red onion, lime juice and fresh chopped cilantro. The savoury strawberry salsa turned out really well and in addition to just eating it by the spoonful, I am thinking that it would be perfect with fish tacos or with cinnamon tortillas chips.

This salsa looks intriguing. I love the spicy-sweet-creamy combination that's going on. I also love the idea of scooping it up with cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips!

This looks awesome! I recently went to Toloache, a hot Mexican restaurant here in NYC and they put fruit in the guacamole. It was everyone's favorite. So you're definitely on to something here!

Wow. What an amazing recipe! I think that this with cinnamon tortilla chips would be sooo good. (I love the ones you get at Farm Boy…do they have a Farm Boy in Toronto?) Thanks!
Kevin says
Emily of The Best of this Life: Nope, no Farm Bay here in Toronto. I Just make my own by brushing some corn tortillas with melted butter, sprinkling on the cinnamon sugar and baking util crispy.

This was amazing! I did not stray from the recipe, which is a miracle for me… but I did not need to, it's perfect… big hit for finicky eaters. I also made the mojito tacos, super delicious (and I do NOT like fish!) Only thing to change next time, treat the grill with oil or spray, my fish stuck to it…but, it made it perfect for tacos.
I found a recipe for strawberry mojitos and served them with the fish and salsa, never have made any of these recipes before, all turned out great. THANK YOU!
