Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwiches

All of the flavours of buffalo chicken done cheesesteak style with onions, peppers and cheese!

These sandwiches are easy to make and packed with flavour! It’s pretty much a chicken cheesesteak recipe with buffalo hot sauce added. Peppers and onions are seared and set aside before cooking the thinly sliced chicken, which is seasoned with ranch seasoning. The buffalo hot sauce is added, along with soy and Worcestershire sauces before adding provolone cheese and letting it melt. The flavour combination is simple but so tasty!

Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 30 minutes Servings: 4

All of the flavours of buffalo chicken done cheesesteak style with onions, peppers and cheese!

ingredients
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oil (or mayonnaise)
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning *
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 cup buffalo hot sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce (optional) (gluten-free or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional) (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 4 slices provolone
  • 4 hoagies/buns/rolls, cut in half (optionally toasted) (gluten-free for gluten-free)
directions
  1. Mix the chicken, oil and ranch seasoning and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat, add the onion, and pepper and cook until lightly seared and just tender, about 5 minutes, before setting aside.
  3. Add the chicken and cook, about 8 minutes.
  4. Add the buffalo hot sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onions and peppers, and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the cheese on top, cover and let the cheese melt.
  6. Divide the chicken and pepper mixture between the buns and enjoy!
Option: Add 4 strips bacon, sliced and cooked
Option: * Make ranch seasoning with: 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1 teaspoon dried chives, 1 teaspoon dried dill, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
Option: * Replace the ranch seasoning with: 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon paprika (or smoked paprika), 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper.
Option: Replace the provolone with 1/2 cup cheese whiz! Or use both!
Option: Replace the provolone with 1/4 cup blue cheese!
