This is that classic creamy and garlicky sauce that’s squirted all over your shawarma just at the end that’s all sorts of good! This sauce has a base of a thick yogurt to which plenty of garlic is added before seasoning with lemon juice and salt to taste. Shawarma sauce also commonly uses mayonnaise these days and you can easily replace some or all of the yogurt with it to add that extra layer of flavour! I like to add a touch of tahini, a sesame paste similar to peanut butter using ground sesame seeds, which really brings everything together. Store this shawarma sauce in the fridge and use on or in your shawarma’s, as a dip for veggies, pita chips, in sandwiches, as a dressing, etc!

Hello,
For the tablespoon of tahini…is it a paste type or ground tahini that I would buy?
Thanks so much!
kevin says
Tahini is a paste like peanut butter that you can find in the international section of your grocery store (or the health food section). Enjoy!

I’m allergic to sesame. Any suggestions to substitute the tahini?
kevin says
You can replace it with another nut butter (if you are not allergic). Each nut butter would change the flavour and be good in it’s own way. Cashew butter or almond butter would be a good place to start.

How long will your recipe for Shawarma Sauce last in the refrigerator? I love the recipe by the way and putting it in a squeeze container is really handy, after each use I put a piece of Saran Wrap under the nozzle to make it air tight.
kevin says
I would use it within a week.

Are the nutritional stats for 1 Tablespoon of the sauce?
