Over the last few years I have had some fun experimenting with different kinds of fritters. Most of these fritters have had the man ingredient as a vegetable but I wanted to try something a little bit different and make some fritters with all of the flavours of buffalo chicken and with the recent success of the quinoa fritters , buffalo chicken quinoa fritters were definitely the way to go! How can you go wrong with the flavours of buffalo chicken formed into patties and fried until golden brown and crispy?
The recipe for these buffalo chicken quinoa fritters could not be easier starting off with the quinoa, chicken, hot sauce, blue cheese with an egg and some bread crumbs to hold everything together. After mixing all of the ingredients it is as easy as forming patties and frying them until golden brown and crispy! You can make the fritters as large or small as you like and I went with a smaller size so that I could serve them as two bit appetizers but larger ones would make for a great light meal. If you wanted to keep these on the lighter side you could easily bake the fritters rather than frying them.
If there is someone that is not a big fan of blue cheese you could easily replace it with more cheddar cheese and then you can serve the fritters with a mild blue cheese dressing for those that do like it.
Just look at that pocket of melted blue cheese in there!

Looks scrumptious! I need these in my life 🙂
Wow, simple, delicious and healthy. A must try!!
Looks really good! Want to make soon!
These look delicious, will definitely try these one day! I've used quinoa as the crumb on my chicken and they come out super crunchy – and even feel healthy 😉
Kevin, I have been looking for a quinoa recipe to try that grain out for the first time. I think I found just the recipe! Thank you, Kevin!
Kevin, is there a difference in using regular or flakes? or are they both one in the same? Thanks.
For health reasons, I recently went meatless and I was so sad about not being able to eat chicken wings anymore. I saw your recipe today and substituted chicken for carrots and celery and put the patty in a hamburger bun. They were absolutely perfect! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Kevin, you are the craziest food blogger on the internet. Your recipes are just totally out of the box. And thanks for a break from bacon, my arteries were beginning to harden. However, I have all this leftover bacon fat, so guess what I'm going to fry these in.
I want these now! These look amazing!
If you were to bake these instead of frying them how long and what temp would you do so?
What an awesome idea! I just LOVE the idea of quinoa fritters!
Sues
Fantastica y deliciosa receta!!!
They look so good! What a clever idea.
I've only ever tried quinoa as a substitute for mashed potato – NOT overly appetising! Have shedloads to use up so will be giving this recipe a try. Thankyou :0)
jeri: Frying them in bacon grease would be perfect!
Maggie: Using the celery and carrots is a great way to replace the chicken in these and they would also go well in addition to the chicken!
North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard: Quinoa flakes are steamed and rolled quinoa and I think that the regular quinoa would work better here.
Brandy: Bake then on a lightly greased baking pan in a preheat 425F oven until golden brown and crispy, about 15-20 minutes, flipping one in the middle.
Any suggestions for a non-meat substitute for the chicken?
What good fortune to come across your blog at this time! I have a large box of quinoa in the cupboard and was looking for some ideas other than just a side rice type way to fix it. SOOO glad you addressed the blue cheese replacement with cheddar, am definately not a fan of blue cheese. Will be trying this. Thanks
Those look so-o good. Great photos. Gotta pin this one so I can make it.
Keep writing…
Annastacia: You could use diced carrots and celery or chickpeas as a replacement for the chicken.
What a clever and delicious way to use quinoa!! Of course, my favorite ingredient on earth, I love the idea of making these little chicken bites even healthier with the addition of quinoa. This is a must try 🙂
Marvelous…..

The game day snacking recipes look SO yummy. Thanks for posting them.
These are just as good as I hoped they would be. Thanks for the recipe–so delicious and healthy!
Absolutely amazing recipe! I made a double batch last weekend and they were gone by Tuesday. I made a spicy yogurt sauce to go with it. We also wrapped these in some romaine lettuce with the sauce and they were a filling lunch! I can't wait to make more!
Mine keep falling apart. I i have upped the panko crumbs to help keep them together, but not luck. Am I using too much sauce maybe? Or would another egg help? Any recs? Also, about how much oil are you frying them in? I fear I am using too much, but not sure.
Jenny: Adding more panko should have worked and if they still are not holding together the extra egg will help. I normally only use 2-4 tablespoons of oil for a shallow fry rather than a deep fry.
OK thanks Kevin! Trying again for Thanksgiving so hopefully this batch will be little better. Going to try more shallow fry too. Fingers crossed!
This was fantastic!!! My grocery store only had red quinoa, which I didn’t think would work, so I substituted farro- Thank you!!
Amy: Red quinoa would have worked just as well as white but the farro option is a good one as well! Glad you enjoyed it!
Kevin, as always, this looks amazing. My wife, Kathy, and I use your site all the time. Great recipes. Q: How would you adapt this if you were using an air fryer vs oil?
These look amazing. What adjustments, if any, if using an air fryer?
Matthew Rassette: I have not used an air fryer yet. I would make the recipe as above and try using the air fryer as directed in it's instructions for something like meatballs or fries.
