This sandwich combines all of the best things for two great sandwiches, the reuben with it’s corned beef, swiss, sauerkraut, and russian dressing, and the cuban sandwich with it’s roast pork, ham, swiss, pickles and mustard. This sandwich replaces the roast pork from the cuban with corned beef from the cuban and jams all the rest into the sandwich!
Cuban Reuben
The magical combination of the cuban and reuben sandwiches; corned beef, ham, pickles, mustard, sauerkraut, and russian dressing in a grilled cheese sandwich with plenty of melted swiss cheese!

- 2 slices rye bread (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 cup swiss cheese, shredded (or 2 slices), room temperature

- 2 slices ham
- 2 slices pickle
- 2 tablespoons sauerkraut, squeezed and drained, coarsely chopped
- 1 tablespoon russian dressing (or thousand island dressing)
directions
- Butter one side of each slice of bread, place one slice in the pan with buttered side down, slather on the mustard, top with half of the cheese, the corned beef, ham, pickle, sauerkraut, dressing, the remaining cheese and finally the other slice of bread with buttered side up.
- Grill in a pan, preheated over medium heat, until golden brown on both sides and the cheese has melted, about 2-4 minutes per side.

I like this combination, especially since I haven’t had either a reuben or classic Cuban sandwich in quite a while, and thank you, this looks like the best of both!
Alan T says
interesting! I make classic reubens frequently..
This Cuban Reuban sounds like a great variation. I will be starting one in a few minutes. THANKS!
