I know you live in Toronto, but have you ever had farm fresh asparagus? The stuff they sell in the stores is not even comparable. I never buy asparagus anywhere else. There have got to be asparagus farms within reach of you. Mind you the season is beginning of May to July. I noticed there was a recipe with asparagus in the email I received.

Jo: I try to get my asparagus at farmers markets, which I believe would be similar.
Jo says
I would imagine farmers markets would be comparable. But if you have to break off the ends before you cook it, it is not fresh. From the farm you can eat every bit.
kevin says
Jo: I will have to look for a farm direct source to compare!
