Pulled pork is definitely up there as one of my favourite foods and the other day when I was enjoying some char siu, a Chinese BBQ or roast pork, I thought that the char siu flavours would be amazing on pulled pork! Char siu sauce is primarily hoisin sauce and Chinese five spice with some staples like soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger thrown in. I wanted it to be a bit more like a BBQ sauce which needs some heat so sriracha was required! When I was thinking about what I was going to use the pulled pork in, sliders were the first thing that came to mind and pulled pork sliders just scream for some slaw. With the Asian flavours going on, my mind wandered to pineapple and I figured that the juicy, sweet and tangy pineapple would pair perfectly with the rich and spicy BBQ pork. Of course adding some pineapple juice to the char siu BBQ sauce would also help tenderize the meat! Next up was what kind of buns to use for the sliders and King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls were a perfect fit as their sweetness would complement the char siu BBQ pork and the tangy pineapple nicely! I have to say the the char siu pulled pork works really well and these pineapple char siu pulled pork sliders were definitely a hit!
Throwing an Oscar’s party this weekend? These would be perfect for it!
Just look at how nice and juicy and tender that pork is!
These sliders can be a little messy but they are so worth it!

HOLY crap. This combines my love of pulled pork with my love of mu shu pork. Heaven. I can't wait to try them!
I will be making these for the family very soon! The sliders look amazing!
Oh Kevin how I wish I lived closer to you to taste your creations
This char siu sauce is something I could easily just drink. For real.
Delicious!! These are my favorite flavors!
What fun party food! I haven't made homemade char siu in years, but I love the idea of serving it pulled pork style.
This looks great. Can you tell me what is in your Chinese five spice please? I have 2 different bottles from "China Town" where I live and one has sweeter ingredients and the other has spicier ingredients. And if your bottle is not writen in a different language can you tell me the brand you us also? Thanks
I would love to make these for a friend who doesn't eat red meat. Do you think I could substitute boneless, skinless chicken thighs for the pork shoulder?
Kevin, this sounds awesome! I can't wait to try this and share with friends. Have you tried making this with chicken? Just an idea but I think that would be great, also. Thanks for sharing.
Where can you buy the Hawaiian sweet rolls, I have only seen them in the USA
Your char siu sauce looks amazing. Loving the ingredient list.
This looks incredible!
Gorgeous colors! These look sooo good!
Char sui pork is on of my favourite things to order from our local dim sum place (they put it in all sorts but my favourite is cheung fun) but I've never made it at home (now I'm wondering why?!)
These look awesome. To the kitchen! 🙂
Hi Kevin! Fabulous. Pinning this to my Slider's board.
This is right up my alley! Pinning!
I just made bbq pork for dinner last week, but it was nowhere near as evolved as this! I'm going to give your recipe a try the next time I make them!
Wow, these look fantastic, and so colorful too!! I love pairing pineapple with savory meals 🙂
This recipe looks amazing Kevin! Trying it out today!
This looks great! My only issue is calling it a slider, but most food blogs make this mistake. Burger purists get pretty uptight about calling anything but a slider a slider. A slider is a very specific type of burger and nothing else.
