Shawarma is one of my favourites and this is a super simple ground beef version that can be made in a skillet in less than 20 minutes. Making your own authentic style shawarma can take a bit of time so this version is perfect for a quick fix! This recipe is a easy as cooking the ground beef, along with onions and garlic, before adding the seasoning. (I like to use a homemade shawarma seasoning) This shawarma beef is amazing in pitas or salads along with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled onions, pickled jalapenos, shawarma sauce, sriracha, etc.
20 Minute Skillet Beef Shawarma
A quick and easy skillet ground beef with all of the flavours of beef shawarma.
ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (or lamb)
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 tablespoons shawarma seasoning
- 1/2 cup beef broth (or beer or water)
directions
- Cook the beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, before draining off any excess grease.
- Add the garlic, shawarma seasoning and broth, mix well, bring to a simmer and cook until most of the liquid has cooked off.
Option: Add 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce with the beef broth.
Option: Add 1 teaspoon soy sauce with the beef broth.
