It seems that I may be a little addicted to hot cheesy dips. Last week I made a hot sweet onion dip and while I was looking for recipes for it I came across some recipes for hot spinach and artichoke dip. This new dip filled with cheese, cream cheese and mayonnaise sounded so good that I had to try it right away. But, with both spinach and artichokes in it, it is just a little bit healthier. 😉 One of the things that I liked about this recipe was that I would get to use artichokes again and I had been looking forward to doing so. The last time I used fresh artichokes and this time I got to try canned ones. This dip is super easy to make; you just mix all of the ingredients and bake until bubbling and golden brown on top. The spinach and artichoke dip was amazing! It was warm and cheesy and full of flavour! The big chunks of artichokes were nice and went well with the spinach in the dip. The chili sauce that I added left a nice after taste of heat that I enjoyed. I served the dip with some whole grain crackers.

Made this tonite for pre-Oscar Awards n it was soooo yummy! Thank you so much for posting this delicious and easy receipe!!!
This dip is my downfall. I can easily cruise through a whole bowl of it, and half a bag of bagels for dipping.
Perfect for the holidays!
Wow, this looks fabulous. Your photos just get better and better!
who ISN’T addicted to hot cheesy dips?! yum!
LOL – it’s okay – you can totally be addicted because this looks great!

i’ve been craving artichoke dip and this looks really great!
Dang–I was just reminded of how much I love spinach/artichoke dip! Love the look of yours!
I always love ordering this! Great with toasty foccacia, too 🙂 Thanks for the recipe Kevin!
Hmmm…I wonder if there is a support group for this addiction? And, if there is, do you think they avoid dip on the snack table?
Kidding, of course! Who could resist a dip that looks this perfectly golden? Nice work.
Love this. I just made some artichoke dip the other day. Mine was very similar.
oooh, yummy, can’t go wrong with spinach and artichoke dip!!! also good with some crab thrown in 😉
This is probably my very favorite dip. There is a place in Napa Valley called Rutherford Grill that makes the best I have had. My sis lives in Napa so I get to go to restaurants that many tourists may not go to or know about. I will have to try yours because it looks just as good.
yum! if i weren’t bringing a dessert to my work holiday party, i would bring one of your dip recipes.
Wow. I just had this for the first time today! And I loved it! How funny! I’ll have to try your recipe for it looks just as perfect as the one I tried!
Marvelous! That hot dip looks really good!
Cheers,
Rosa
A healthy dip! Nice one!
oh my Kevin! This is so good – you are a tease. All I want right now is a few crackers and a big bowl of this dip!
Perfect for party dip, delicious!
i adore artichokes! had artichokes, sundried tomatoes and feta cheese salad 2 days ago and it was amazing. this dip looks fantastic and so delicious. but have never seen frozen spinach before in the supermarkets! 🙂
spinach artichoke is one of my favorite dips! you can never get sick of it!
Kevin…looks divine!
Oooooh! One of my favorites!
Great dip!!
Yum! Artichoke dip is one of my favorite hot dips and this one looks amazing. I think I may have to try this for T-day 🙂
i love the addition of the right frame! it adds lovely color to your already fab site.
I will have to make this for the football game on Saturday! A great crowd pleaser for sure! We made your spinach and mushroom crepes. They were fabulous! We posted them today and linked to you. I hope that is ok!
Oh does that look tasty. I love artichokes and this seems pretty easy to make!
Love your blog by the way. I made a spinach and artichoke dip last Saturday. It was an Emeril recipe from foodnetwork.com. I think more of my friends liked it more than I did. The base was a blond roux (flour and canola oil)with milk, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese (shredded). I will try your recipe for the dip next.
Where do you find these recipes, Kevin! I could quite happily take the whole bowl, a book and some crisps and leave the world and all its cares behind!
Ooo, this looks so good. I love that this recipe for spinach and artichoke dip does not have an overwhelming amount of mayo in it. I will have to try soon!
Kevin,
thank you so much for posting your recipes! I stop by daily on tastespotting and open a few… and very often they are yours!
I am surrounded by food all day at work, so this is quite a compliment!
Cheers,
Marysol
Wow … that looks/sounds fabulous. I might have to make that one soon. I already told my step mom I’d bring that hot corn dip for Thanksgiving, or else I’d sub this one in.
I would also be addicted to this kind of cheese dips, it looks delicious!
Yum,
That looks so good my boyfriend might love me forever if I made that for him. 🙂
I recently made a dip just like this but I actually drained the artichokes, tossed them with some olive oil, salt & pepper, and then roasted them for 20 minutes before chopping them and putting them into the dip. It added a layer of flavor. Your pictures are amazing!
One of my favorite hot dips. Beautiful picture!
post as many hot cheesy dips as you want…we’ll never tire of them.
YUM< that is one of my favorite dips, and I love the addition of spinach!
I love artichokes and spichnacs Kevin!!! Sometimes (you know Im speaking in spanish) I need more words to say you how I feel how really yummy is all you make!! You really amazing me!!! xxxxGloria
Look so wonderful
This looks heavenly! I could just sit in front of the TV all day and chomp down crackers with this dip!
Wow, you got a great crust on that dip. Looks delicious!
This looks great and I love the add of the chili sauce that will give it a nice kick!!
Ooooh. I love hot artichoke and spinach dip, especially with crusty bread. I could eat this whole bowl for dinner!
Just look at the gorgeous browning on that! Yum!
You hot cheesey dips looks yummy so post away! I am going to try the onion one this weekend. I can’t wait to try it!
Spinach-artichoke dip is always a crowd pleaser! Yup, hot cheesy dips do it for me too 🙂
there is nothing wrong with being addicted to hot cheesy dips! I love this one!
Oh my gosh, I want to dive into that head first! It looks delish 🙂
This is my favorite dipping! I usually got to make extra, like..one for guests. One all for myself!! Hee..
This is one of my favourites too kevin. It is fantastic spread on a baquette or Ciabatta or any bread and baked in the oven to melt the heese too!!
this sounds delicious i too seem to love hot melted cheese
this Tuscan cheese dip is right up there
8oz cream cheese
8 oz mozzarella shredded
1 T garlic minced
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp hot sauce or to taste
Melting in the microwave til hot and creamy sticks too much in a pan on stove.
you can leave it at that and cut up a baguette cut into rounds drizzled with olive oil and baked for 5 min at 400
But it is even exceptionally better with tomato.
so 1 14oz can tomato petite diced ( drained)
2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
mix together above and then place and mesh colander to drain for 15 minutes then make following
1/4 c balsamic reduction
poor reduction over tomatoes. and serve with bread and cheese dip.. though i tend not to always make the tomato part it is excellent together..
I ADORE spinach artichoke dip!! Thanks for reminding me just how much I love it (and just how long it’s been since I made it last)!
Thanks for visiting — you have a delicious blog 🙂
This is one of my favorite dips! Very hard to resist!
I love spinach and artichoke dip but have never attempted to make it on my own. Thanks for the recipe!
I made a double batch of this for Thanksgiving with my family. It went pretty quickly and got lots of praise – thanks for the recipe!
Oh Kevin, I love you – you’ve just given me the recipe I am going to make for an appetiser on Christmas Day!
I am so excited about finding this recipe. I have guests coming in 1 hour and needed a recipe that was cheesy, hot and one that I had all ingredients for! DONE!
You are best, thanks so much!
I just started to cook and love your website 🙂 I made this on Christmas and it was a big hit! I even made it again the next day (per guests requests because they loved it so much) There wasn’t a drop left over. The only thing was mine didn’t get crispy on the top like yours did (wondering did I not leave it in long enough?) Regardless it was amazing! Thanks
Jennifer: You could turn the oven to broil for a few minutes to get a nice and golden brown top. As suggested above, I was also thinking of topping it with a mixture of parmigiano reggiano and panko bread crumbs next time for an even crispier topping.
I did a search on the internets for spinach and artichoke dip and I have to say this is the most enticing image that came up – among hundreds. i’m going to make it for a party on saturday!
Oh My Lord. That looks positively… I am going to buy some artichokes next time at the supermarket JUST FOR THIS.
Do you know if it goes well atop some ciabatta and then thrown under the grill or something? It’d be great for like, half a dinner, or maybe even all of dinner if I’m lazy…it’d have all the food groups! hehe
I enjoy your recipes so much. It’s now turning into if I want to find something, I check here! This dip is something I’ve been looking for for quite some time. I’m looking forward to trying this one!

I love hot spinach and artichoke dip! My version uses spinach, artichoke hearts, mayonnaise, shredded parmesean and mozzarella, crushed garlic, a squeeze of lemon juice, and black pepper and cayenne pepper to taste. Mix everything together and bake at 350F until bubbly. Great with tortilla or lightly salted pita chips, or as a spread on slices of french bread. So yummy!
I tried this last week and it was fantastic !! The whole family loved it !! Thanks !
I have been on the look-out for a great Spinach-Artichoke Dip – i think I've found it!
Oh no I'm hungry and its 1 a.m. LOL. Wow, great blog… Yummy Blog 🙂

This dip is fantastic! Easy to make and delicious!
Hi Kevin-
I've just started reading your blog and I'm in love. Cheers for the good work! I made your Artichoke and Spinach dip and my husband and I LOVED IT. keep the ideas coming!
This dip looks stunning. Will definitely try it soon 🙂
I've been in love with the dip since I first had it in university at Milestones. I've bought pre-made versions from Loblaws, but they never tasted the same. I've never eaten artichokes before until a few months ago at a friend's dinner party. And I've still never cooked artichokes, but will do so now that I have this recipe (though I already see my waistline increasing). I'll just pretend it's healthy with the artichoke and spinach.
Thanks for the recipe!
this was a huge hit when i served it at a brunch. so delicious.
http://foodforscot.blogspot.com/2010/03/spinach-artichoke-dip.html
It was amazing! So easy to make! I used frozen artichokes, and a few different cheeses, but it is coming out great! I'll probably make a pig out of myself and eat the whole bowl with a whole loaf of french bread!
WOW!!! I made this for my fiance's family reunion…over 80 italian relatives of his. I made this recipe x6, and mixed all the ingredients in a crockpot a few hours before we left & let it cook. I added a just a few more pinches of salt & used a little extra sriracha as the heat factor. the perfect amount of heat to please even the most sensitive palate. i didn't have panko on hand, so i just covered the top with extra cheese!! EVERYONE was asking who made it & the x6 recipe crockpot looked like it was licked clean within 20 minutes! I kept a little extra cup of it in my fridge…& it's fabulous even cold!!! thanks so much for the recipe! 😀
Kevin,
I found your recipe here a couple of years ago and I make it on special occasions because everyone asks for it over and over. It's one of my standards. Thank you!!!
I bookmarked this recipe ages ago, and finally made it for 2 parties this holiday. It was fantastic and everyone raved about it! Left the mayonnaise out because of a preference, but I'm sure it would be great with it too. Now I need to try more of your dip recipes!
I made a double batch of this last night for our New Year's party and it was a huge hit! Thanks for the recipe 🙂
Your recipes never disappoint! Thanks Kevin! I can't wait to try your crab dip 🙂
I made this to take to Thanksgiving dinner. I had never tried anything with artichokes before, and was worried that it would not be very good. But surprisingly it was a huge hit! They actually asked me to make it for Christmas dinner too!

ooh this looks delicious! thanks for the recipe.
This looks so good, I just popped it into the oven and will render my verdict shortly. Thank you so much for inspiring me to try not just one but two recipes – tomorrow, it's the puff pastry with asparagus and gruyere! Except I couldn't find gruyere so am using smoked gouda.
Thanks!
I made this for dinner tonight and it is SO good. I left out the spinach just cuz I'm lazy, and used reduced fat on most of the other ingredients. I had it with crostini.
It's my new go-to for artichoke dip. Thank you so much for sharing it. My old one was good, but pretty greasy. This one is smooth, creamy, but not so heavy that it's kind of a bummer. This one is great!
I think I'll try your corn one next.
This was sooo easy and SO amazing.. I already fwd to my sister! I have tried other dips before and they never came out as delicious as this one did and again.. SO EASY.. I am about to make the jalepeno popper dip now!
Thanks!

I added more cheese to the top and some bread crumbs and had to broil it a few minute after cooking to get it to brown on top. Also added Tabasco sause in place of chilli sauce. Oh, and some salt/pepper. YUM! Found your recipe on Pinterest…
This looks fabulous. Think I'll make it this weekend!
I whimpered out loud a little when I saw this! Making this for my next party – Thanks for sharing!
In TX, we leave out the chili sauce, but serve it with Salsa and Sour Cream. I'm going to give your recipe a try cause I love how your picture of it looks. Nice and brown and crispy. Thanks.
Made this for the Superbowl yesterday, among other things. This was the biggest hit! It was all hubby and I ate for lunch, snacks & dinner. Thanks!
I made this for the superbowl, but it came out kind of bland! I think it's because I didn't have chili sauce. I don't even know what chili sauce is actually. Is it hot sauce? Anyway, it looked gorgeous but wasn't cheesy enough or flavorful enough. Still yummy, but next time I'll be adding more cheese and seasonings!!
Anonymous: I generally use sriracha or sambal oelek but your favourite hot sauce like tabasco would also work well.
I made this for the superbowl and followed step by step everything. Everyone loved it! It was flavorful and easy to make. Great recipe! It's a keeper!
do you know how much a box of fresh spinach is equal to fresh?
do you know how much a box of fresh spinach is equal to fresh?
amanda: Fresh to frozen spinach seems to work out well with equal mass to start. I sometimes use two 5 ounce packages of fresh spinach instead of the 10 ounce package of frozen spinach. After you steam the fresh spinach and drain it you will have about the same amount as the frozen spinach after it is thawed and drained.
Looks delish! I want to make this as part of a small appetizer spread for a group of 12-16. If I double the recipe, will that be enough for everyone? Wondering what a serving size is for this dip.
Marianna: I would probably play it safe and go for more, say triple, depending on the circumstances. (Time of day, are you serving it with any other apps, what you are spreading it on, etc.)
Thx, Kevin. I am going to triple the recipe. Should I still plan on the original 20-30 minute baking time? If not, what do you recommend?
Forgot to add that I'll be serving this as the main app with 3 or 4 other apps at 6pm. Dip with crackers and veggies.
Marianna: I would just use a wider baking dish so that the dip is still only 1 1/2 – 2 inches thick. That way the bake time should not bee too much longer. It will be ready when the top is lightly golden brown and the sides are bubbling.
Hi there, I've made this dip several times and I always get compliments thanks to you!
I've just started a blog and I'd love to share this recipe. I shall place a link to your blog!

looks great!
I make this same dip but will use an Alfredo garlic sauce!! Adds that extra zing. I love this dip so much I don't care if it's full of calories, it's way good!!
Love this dip SO much! I made it last week for a gathering we had at my office – everyone went nuts over it and I felt very proud.
I've been making this recipe for years, so glad you like it too! The addition of chili sauce sounds delicious. 🙂
Best recipe I have found for this as of yet. Love it 🙂
Have substituted the sometimes foods mayo & cream for a drained mixture of cottage cheese, ricotta & dijon mustard…a much healthier option & almost as good…it doesn't keep as well as the full fat version BTW hilpal x
I am really getting hungry by looking at these pictures! Winderful site! Congrats!
Great dip.. Artichokes must be my favorite thing right now! http://BrumDine.com
I made this exactly as stated last night. It was gone with 30 minutes. I'm making again this weekend only I'm doubling the recipe. This is amazing dip!!
Looks disgusting… looks discusting…. looks discusting
This is what I have to tell myself to avoid temptation!
Actually, that's a lie, because I have a Perfectly Posh party tonight, and hosting a baby shower on Saturday, so I will be making this! Looks amazing!
I make a delicious spinach artichoke dip as well, except I melt down White American cheese with a bit of milk to keep it from tightening up too much, and I also add chopped roasted red peppers…I can't keep enough around for parties, it's usually the first dip/appetizer to disappear! Yours sounds excellent and I will surely give it a try!
Love it! Thanks for sharing!
I have a printed recipe of the hot spinach and Artichoke dip with a picture. What happened to getting these recipes with pictures?
WOW, looks amazing 🙂 Love your blog
I don't cook with frozen or caned foods. If I used fresh spinach and artichoke hearts, would the measurements still be the same? Thanks
Rebecca: You can definitely use fresh spinach and artichoke hearts and the measurements would be the same.
make a similar dip, use thawed frozen arty hearts instead — more flavor and texture than canned. Also, add a 1/3 cup swiss cheese and 6 oz drained can of crab meat — soooo good!
Be still my heart!! Cholesterol and diet be damned! (well, atleast for a day!) *wink*
I added bacon and it was DELIGHTFUL!
Traverse City, MI. Jonathan B. Pub in the grand traverse mall. Best spinach and artichoke dip EVA!
Hi! I've never attempted a spinach artichoke dip, but really want to try your recipe! Crazy question…do you mix in the parm and mozz cheese and then top with more cheese? Or mix everything except the cheese and then top with the 1/4 cup of parm and mozz cheeses?
Tammy: Normally you mix all of the cheese into the dip but you can reserve some to sprinkle on top to give it a nice golden brown melted cheese finish. Enjoy!
Love spindip, I will try yours ……with mine instead of. Mozzarella we use smoked gouda and a few slices of dried tomatoes.
I made a double batch of this recipe yesterday, I used Birds Eye frozen Artichokes instead of canned, a few handfuls of shredded pizza cheese and about 1/2 of a container of Kraft shaky parmesan cheese… it was amazing!! It reheats well in the microwave as well!!!
I have been making one I got from Southern Living for at least 30-years that uses marinated artichokes and it's always a huge hit, but will be trying yours for company next week and might add some crabmeat.
Nancy Long: Crab meat is really good in a spinach and artichoke dip!
I love this dip and have made it several times! Can I prepare this Thursday night, but refrigerate it and wait until Friday night to actually bake it?
Tracy: Yes that will work! You make need to bake it a bit longer, say 5-10 minutes, if baking it straight out of the fridge. Enjoy!
This is always one of our favorite appetizers when we go out but i never thought of trying to make it at home. thanks.
I will be making this for Thanksgiving but I want to use a fiesta blend of cheese instead of the mozzarella, will this work?
DIANAHAINES: A fiesta blend of cheese will work as well!
This looks incredible! We often make dips and apps for Sunday football and this would be PERFECT! Can you use fresh steamed spinach instead of frozen? tks!
Lisa: Yes, fresh steamed spinach works as well!
Tad confused. Should I use 10oz of frozen spinach? Or use half of a 10oz package of spinach?
Also if I'm taking this to a party should I double to recipe?
Robert V: That is half of a 10oz package of spinach. I would probably double the recipe for a party. Enjoy!
As a former McMenamin's employee, I can tell you it was never baked, we made it cold and microwaved pre-portioned orders, so there was never a golden baked crust such as your picture suggests.
Oh Wow!! Perfect Looks..
A 10-oz. pkg. frozen chopped spinach is sort of small. This is the first recipe I’ve seen calling for 1/2 of the package. Does this recipe mean 1/2 of a 10-oz. pkg.?
Yes it does, but you could also use the whole package! Enjoy!
KEVIN, I MADE THIS RECIPE FOR TWO GROUPS OVER THE HOLIDAYS. EVERYONE RAVED OVER IT AND IT DISAPPEARED IN MINUTES. THANKS SO MUCH. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU. LOVE YOUR BLOG. SUZANNE
