Today is Global Pulse Day! Pulses are the edible seeds of plants in the legume family including dried peas, beans, chickpeas and lentils all of which are staples in my pantry and in my meal plan! Global Pulse Day is the perfect day to roundup some of my favourite recipes that use pulses and it’s quite the list of tasty recipes!
Pulses are so versatile and this roundup includes recipes that use them in everything from soups, to salads, sandwiches, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, dips, nachos, casseroles, burgers, and the list goes on! I am really excited about this collection of recipes including pulses as it contains a lot of my favourite recipes!
Pulses are cheap and they can be stored in your panty for long periods of time so I always have them on hand! They are easy to cook, though you might need to remember to soak them overnight, and a slow cooker can make things even easier so I often reach for them when cooking!

These look awesome! Thanks for sharing. I have a question about pulse. My dad has a garden and grows a lot of peas like zippers, black eyes and crowders. In the south (where I live) these are called field peas. They're not usually dried (except for maybe the black eyes) before they're cooked and eaten. Are they still considered part of the pulse family? thanks!

Melissa: I believe that the seeds (on the inside), which can be dried, are the pulses.
