Thanksgiving Appetizer Recipes

The best appetizer recipes for Thanksgiving!

While everyone is waiting for the big dinner you cannot let them starve and this is where the snacks and appetizers come in. The appetizers or hors d oeuvres, are always one of my favourite parts of planning Thanksgiving and they are a great way to make your Thanksgiving day stand out. There are just so many different things that you can do with appetizers from a simple platter of meats, cheeses and fruit, to cookies, to dips, to chips, to crostini or even finger sized pies. Although I always enjoy sticking in season with pumpkin and cranberry dishes, I don’t let it constrain me too much and I am not afraid to mix it up with combinations of sweet and savoury. The only thing that you need to be careful about really, is that you do not ruin your guests appetite for the big meal!

The strudel, the olives and the brie are enticing. The wonderful thing about appetizers is – you're free and clear. So many of the courses for Thanksgiving are set from generations ago – and people would be upset if you rolled out a whole new menu – but with your tasty bites – I am free to play.

These Thanksgiving appetizers just made my heart swoon. Exactly what I was searching for since I am regrettably a last minute person. Thank you for rescuing me with this perfect appetizer solution.

Before the crowded Thanksgiving hours get too far along, let me express a big thank you this Thanksgiving season for all of the wonderful recipes that you prepare and share with us (especially those of us that rely on your for last minute ideas). A toast of appreciation to you:

May you be granted your every Thanksgiving wish
May you be blessed with the magic of generosity and bliss
May you be graced with a holiday of laughter and cheer
May you help spread the Thanksgiving spirit far and near.

Unfortunately we were in Marco Fl. for vacation during thanksgiving. We ate at several places and they were very high dollar and the food was really bad. Had a mixed seafood platter at Capt. Brien's, I have NEVER had crab cakes that were soooo bad. I missed my traditional thanksgiving day feast. Christmas is coming tho . . . .
